PITTORESQUE

PITTORESQUE is a performative installation that confronts courtly dance with contemporary dance. The meaning and function of dance in the respective epochs - also Power relations - are questioned. Using historical and contemporary clichés, projections and imaginations, this performance explores the political position of the artist. Staged as a tableau vivant, two opposing hybrid bodies are being performed: the poodle, as a laboratory animal, and the bear, as a wild creature appearing in pomp and splendor. “chaotic images” are being created unmasking “power structures” in the arts.
